Exploring your Kinfolk

Family history kinfolk research

Genealogy and family history

Over the years I have developed a real passion for genealogy and family history research. It’s all about storytelling – my number one passion.
There is a thrill in being a detective and ‘finding’ family (mine or others). But it’s so much more than that. Family history is like exploring your own life – but on a much vaster stage.
My work is not just about lineage and putting names down – in a way that’s easy (although it’s not). It’s about fleshing out the characters and finding their story. And then telling it. Honouring that part the story played in your family’s past.
So many people want to know who came before them, what did they do, where did they live, what sort of life did they have, what happened to them…
Stories
I’ve been searching for my people for many years now. I’ve searched for others too. Finding their stories. Discovering who they were. Charting the highs and lows of lives very different to ours. We are connected to our past.
“The past is never dead. It’s not even past”
William Faulkner

My genealogy bookshop

My BOOKSHOP is housed at bookshop.org – an online bookstore that supports local book shops (the real ones on streets, with doors and books you can see on shelves). When you buy a book here money goes to real shops. Please support bookshops – even if you can’t get to a real one! It’s so important we keep bookshops on our streets – somehow.
Most of these books are on my own bookshelf. They are books to consult when needed and some to read cover to cover.  If you’re serious about research, you will need books. Have a browse and visit my shop at bookshop.org.
