Up-cycled candlestick

This is, without doubt, one of my favourite up-cycled things in my world. I bought a couple of orange acrylic candlesticks which sat doing very little in my bathroom for a few years. Then I put candles in one day, lit them and when the hot wax reached the bottom it cracked the ‘glass’. That’ll teach me to buy cheap orange candlesticks. So, they did very little after that until I decided to mend them …

Up-cycled candlestick making

Up-cycled candlestick

It was a labour of love.
It look hours, but it was such an exciting project. And pretty messy!
Exactly my sort of colours. Rich golds, oranges, reds and a few contrasting pieces.

I used:

  • Beaded fabrics – Indian fabrics are beautiful for this work
  • Braids and ribbons
  • Beads
  • Sequins
  • Broken pieces of jewellery
  • Pieces of broken chains
  • A lot of glue (PVA and a good strong jewellery glue.
  • Glitter
  • Varnish

There are two. Honest.
I’m keeping these. Some things just can’t be parted from.
And the broken bits?
I don’t think you can see much really …
